Terms of sale
Plain terms for buying from The Bike Box Company. They sit alongside your statutory rights, which they do not reduce.
1. Who you are buying from
The Bike Box Company is a trading name of Bike Box Hire UK Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17395115. Registered office: 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Email hello@thebikeboxcompany.com. "We" and "us" in these terms means Bike Box Hire UK Ltd trading as The Bike Box Company.
2. Your order
Placing an order on this site is an offer to buy. We accept it, and a contract is formed, when we email you an order confirmation. If we cannot supply something, for example because a maker has stopped it or our price was shown wrongly, we will tell you and refund anything you have paid.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Carriage is shown on each product and in the basket before you pay. Payment is by card through Stripe at the time of ordering; we do not store card details. Where a maker's recommended retail price is shown struck through, it is the maker's current RRP and ours is the price you pay.
4. Delivery
We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom. Dispatch times are shown on each product; they are estimates, and made-to-order items depend on the maker. Some items are sent to you direct by the maker on our behalf. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery; ownership passes when we have been paid in full. If nobody is in and the carrier returns the parcel, we may charge the cost of sending it again.
5. Cancelling and returning
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you may cancel for any reason within 14 days of receiving your order. Tell us by email, return the goods within 14 days of telling us, unused and in their original packaging, and we refund the price and the original standard delivery within 14 days of receiving them. You pay the cost of returning the goods. We may reduce the refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is needed to inspect the goods. Full details are on our delivery and returns page.
6. Faulty goods and warranties
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you the right to reject faulty goods for a full refund within 30 days, and to a repair or replacement for six months after that. Beyond our obligations, each product carries its maker's warranty on the terms the maker publishes; we will handle warranty claims with the maker for you where we can.
7. Our liability
We are responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care, up to the price you paid. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything the law does not let us exclude. We are not responsible for damage to a bike packed in a box or bag; the box protects it, but how it is packed and how it is handled by an airline are outside our control.
8. Events outside our control
If delivery is delayed by something outside our reasonable control, we will tell you as soon as we can and do what we can to reduce the delay. If the delay is substantial you may cancel and have a refund for goods not yet delivered.
9. Other terms
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting your right to bring a claim where you live in the UK. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. Our privacy notice explains how we use your details.
